Ideally the center channel speaker should go where it s closest to your ear level when seated.
Center speaker above projector screen.
My screen with frame is 52 tall with about 28 above and 24 below my eye level.
Madmac i m in the market for a 1080p projector.
Center speakers fit great on top of an entertainment cabinet or easily on a shelf mounted above or below the tv screen.
It depends on how much space you have above and below your screen.
The ideal is to have the centre speaker behind the screeen but this is only viable if using an acoustically transparent pj screen.
It is probably more applicable to projector screens but i have heard the difference between a single centre below the screen and a centre below and above the screen.
If using a projector and an acoustically transparent projection screen installing the center speaker at ear height behind the screen makes for ideal placement.
Thanks for the replies.
If so angle the speaker up toward your ears.
I might see a little pixelization at 12 with a 120 screen but i m thinking it won t be too bad as that s right on the cusp of pixelization according to.
Speakers behind the projector screen.
Reasons to use an acoustically transparent screen there are a few reasons to use an acoustically transparent projector screen over a normal projector screen.
The sound comes from the screen sound effects and dialog are both typically produced by the center left and right front channel speakers.
The screen was about 7 8 feet wide and when both centres were used the voices came from the centre of the screen not from below it.
Place the center speaker above of below the tv where the tweeter is closer to the tweeters of the right and left speakers.
The position of the center channel should be based on the position of the right and left tweeters.
Putting the speaker below means the bottom of it is about 18 off the floor and putting it above means the top is about 18 from the ceiling.
If using a projector and an acoustically transparent projector screen installing the center speaker at ear height behind the screen is the ideal positioning.
